New sewage treatment plant starts operation in Nansha

The sewage treatment plant in the Lingshan Island area of Guangzhou's Nansha district was officially put into operation on Sept 6.

Covering a total area of around 3.59 square kilometers, the plant started construction in October 2018 and was put into trial operation in November 2020.

Being the first semi-buried sewage treatment plant in Nansha, the plant is expected to be a demonstration for the establishment of an operation system for municipal facilities featuring low energy consumption and low pollution.

The operation of the plan is expected to increase the sewage treatment capacity in Nansha and remarkably reduce the pollution in local rivers, making more contributions to Nansha's water pollution prevention and control.
