A 208-meter-long luxury roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) ship, capable of carrying over 1,300 passengers, was named Ji Long Dao in Nansha district, Guangzhou recently.

The vessel was built by Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited (GSI) for COSCO Shipping.

Prior to the naming ceremony, the ship completed the handover and reception procedures, and will soon go to Bohai Bay and begin operation on the Dalian-Yantai route.

GSI is a modern shipbuilding company based in Nansha and is wholly owned by CSSC Offshore & Marine Engineering Company Limited under the China State Shipbuilding Corporation Group (CSSC).

Ji Long Dao is a luxury vessel that was fully designed independently in China. Moreover, it is also a large ro-ro passenger ship with the highest level of intelligence and comfort in China. It features fast speeds, good maneuverability, low noise and smart equipment.

Luo Yi, project manager of the ship, said that the ship was completed in only 20 months.

"The interior of the ship embodies the poetic Chinese characteristics of China's landscape and demonstrates our core competitiveness in the international ro-ro passenger ship market," Luo added.
