Huangge town in Guangzhou's Nansha district will be built into a leading cultural town in the district, officials from Huangge town announced on July 29.

Owning more than a half of Nansha's immovable cultural heritages, Huangge town will become a platform to showcase Nansha's traditional culture and spirit such as Huangge Kylin dance.

Lianxi village in Huangge is now a provincial-level traditional village while Dongli and Dajing villages are municipal-level traditional villages. The three villages are close to each other, covering a total area of around 36 hectares.

The town is now moving forward with its urban renovation project, hiring professional teams from Tsinghua University to carry out conceptual urban design.

Modern techniques will be applied in the renovation of historical architecture with a distinctive Lingnan style in Dajing village. Eight local landmarks such as the ancestral temple of the Zhang family and the ancient well at Wenyan Alley will be preserved.

Cultural events, retail stores, businesses, catering and hotels will be available to the public in Dajing village after renovation.
