CAS to open campus in Nansha district

The University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) will open a new campus in Mingzhu Science Park, Guangzhou's Nansha district, officials from the Guangzhou Public Resources Trading Center said on Aug 1. 

The bid for surveying, designing and constructing the first phase of construction of the campus was won by a consortium formed by several companies, including China Railway Construction Group, China Railway Construction Group Southern Engineering, China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group and Guangdong Architectural Design and Research Institute.

The bid totaled 1.68 billion yuan ($259.71 million).

The first-phase construction of the campus will cover a total area of 143,438 square meters with a floorage of 236,705 sq m, and 34,880 sq m of the floorage will be underground. 

CAS's Guangzhou campus plans to attract high-level talents through integrated development of scientific research and education, and by cultivating innovative talents. 

It will also gather high-caliber talents from both home and abroad to carry out advanced scientific research to better serve the regional socio-economic development.
