The construction of Shanghengli Bridge in Guangzhou's Nansha district has gained more momentum with a section of the bridge being completed on July 23.

Staff members from the bridge's construction site noted that the whole bridge is expected to be completed by the end of September.

Shanghengli Bridge connects the west part of Dagang Guangzhou-Hong Kong intelligent manufacturing base and Hengli town. Stretching 965 meters, the bridge is designed with six lanes going in both directions.

The construction of the bridge started in March 2019 with a total investment of 442 million yuan ($68.3 million).

After completion, the travel time between Dagang to Hengli for locals will be shortened to 20 minutes by car.

The purpose of the bridge is to further enhance connections among the western, middle and southern parts of Nansha, speed up the urbanization of Nansha's Dagang and Hengli towns as well as boost regional economic development.
