Three new metro lines, numbered 15, 18 and 38, are scheduled to pass through Nansha Station in Guangzhou's Nansha district, according to a reserved construction project proposal released on April 18.

It is the first official document to reveal that Nansha Station will have three metro lines.

The project, with an overall investment of around 500 million yuan ($77 million), is located to the south of Wanqingsha town, north of Qichong and east of Nansha Port express.

The reserved construction has been listed as one of the major projects of Guangzhou municipal development and reform commission in 2021.

Nansha Station is scheduled to be a key transportation hub in the district, and railway lines such as Nansha Port railway, the Guangzhou-Zhuhai (Macao) high-speed railway, and Shenzhen-Nanning high-speed railway are expected to pass through the station.

Of the three metro lines, Metro Line 18 is expected to start operation this year and function as an intercity metro line in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Metro Line 15 will be a circle line running within Nansha district, and Metro Line 38 will stretch across the district.

Metro Line 15 will allow passengers to transit to lines 4 and 18, making it possible for people to travel between Nansha and Tianhe districts within 30 minutes.
