An aviation center was put into operation at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in Nansha on April 15, marking an important step in Nansha's construction of an international shipping hub.

The center will also function as a shared international cargo center for airports in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The shared cargo center is able to provide one-stop services such as warehousing, inspection and security checks, offering a more convenient and efficient logistics channel.

Cargo to be transported by air can finish its customs clearance process in Nansha and then be directly transported to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport for further export within 12 hours, increasing the clearance efficiency of such shipments.

It is anticipated that the center will meet the demand for swift service from cross-border e-commerce and consequently promote its development in Nansha.

"Compared with the old inspection models, the one-stop services provided by the center can sort out the cargo that does not meet up with the requirements for further handling before heading to the airport," said Wu Zufeng, a staff member from Guangdong Airport Group Logistics.

Wu added that the system has the potential not only to reduce the occurrence of returned shipments, but it can also cut down the time cost to just two hours.
