UCAS sets up its Guangzhou branch in Nansha

The Guangzhou branch of the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) will settle east of Zhujiang Street and west of Mingzhuwan Bridge in Guangzhou's Nansha district, officials announced on Nov 21.

UCAS' Guangzhou branch will be a second-class college of the university. It has been designed to become a pioneer in advanced scientific research and high-tech application. It will conduct innovations in talent cultivation for graduate students and senior undergraduates while attracting high-end talents from home and abroad to carry out scientific research.

The first phase of the Guangzhou branch will cover 236,000 square meters, with an overall investment of around 2.16 billion yuan ($327.52 million), including facilities like classrooms, laboratories, libraries, halls, and dormitories. 

The Guangzhou branch is scheduled to be put into operation in December 2023.
