Guangzhou Port Nansha Automotive Terminal has imported around 46,000 finished automobile since 2016, making it the second largest parallel automobile import port in China after Tianjin, said Tan Qiang, deputy director of Nansha Customs, during a promotion fair held on Nov 26.
Jointly hosted by the port office of Nansha district and Guangzhou Port Group under the guidance of the Guangzhou municipal commerce bureau, the promotion fair aimed to give full play to Nansha's advantages for being an international shipping hub and push forward the construction of the international trade center for automobiles in the district.
Currently, Nansha has a supervision area spanning 200,000 square meters, three 30,000-metric-ton multi-functional berths, and a six-floor indoor warehouse for parallel imported automobiles, which is able to hold up to 8,000 automobiles at the same time.
A person in charge from Guangzhou Port Group noted that the overall volume of China's automobile consumer market in 2020 is expected to reach 23.2 million, with projected growth for the next three years.
The district has taken the lead in launching the new model of integrating bonded service and exhibitions to conduct businesses like bonded warehousing, as well as the trade and exhibition of parallel automobiles.
Nansha will learn from preferential policies launched by the Hainan Free Trade Port to turn the district into an international trade center for automobiles and a major channel for the export of automobiles.
