Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held a media briefing on Oct 29 in Hong Kong, outlining the latest progress in the construction of HKUST's Guangzhou campus.
The land leveling of the Guangzhou campus was completed in July and part of the construction teams have settled down for further work.
The campus has been designed to set up four hubs for academic research, covering 16 cutting-edged areas like advanced materials, microelectronics, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), smart transportation, financial technology, and urban management.
"The campus shall have 150 teachers by September 2022 when the new semester will start," said Shyy Wei, president of HKUST.
Currently, HKUST (Guangzhou) has planned to recruit 400 post-doctoral and research assistant professors, as well as 800 administrative staff members. It addition, staff members at HKUST (Guangzhou) can enjoy the same treatment as those working in HKUST in Hong Kong.
