Nansha Special Education School, also known as Qihui School, has finished construction work on its main structure and is entering the final stages of the build.

Wang Li, principle of Qihui School, said that it is planned that the school will cover an area of 59.86 mu (3.99 hectares), and will feature 45 classes for 360 students.

The school started construction in March 2018, and is expected to be put into operation in September this year. It will enroll 60 students with moderate to severe mental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders or severe emotional behavior disorders as its first batch of students.

Each storey of the school buildings has wheelchair access and elevators will also be available in all buildings if students want to go upstairs.

About 20 functional rooms are being built in the school, such as multi-sensory rehabilitation activity rooms, a psychological intervention service center, physical rehabilitation therapy rooms and intelligent libraries.

A district-level guidance center on special education in Nansha will be built in the future, on the basis of Qihui School, to achieve the better development of special education in the district.
