A total of 44 companies from Guangzhou's Nansha district have participated in the ongoing 127th session of the China Import and Export Fair.

The biannual event, which is also known as the Canton Fair, opened online on June 15 due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic. It is the first time in its 63-year history that it has been held as a digital fair.

The Canton Fair has attracted 4,268 companies from Guangdong province, covering 13,039 booths. Among Nansha's 44 participating companies, five are state-owned companies, 11 are foreign-invested companies, and 28 are private companies.

"We've planned to do live streams for about one to two hours a day, showcasing the latest products to purchasers around the world," said a staff member surnamed Zhou from Guangzhou Provision Electronics Co Ltd.

Zhou said that this is the fifth year that the company has attended the Canton Fair. "People can't travel to different countries freely because of the COVID-19 epidemic, yet we still have to do business. Therefore, I believe that holding the Canton Fair online will bring a lot of business opportunities for us," added Zhou.
