Construction on modern agriculture projects kicks off in Nansha

A batch of 23 major modern agricultural projects in Nansha district has started construction on June 3, involving an overall investment of 18.82 billion yuan ($2.64 billion).

The projects cover various aspects spanning aquatic products, planting, livestock, processing logistics, agricultural technology, and leisure agriculture. Among them, 11 are aquatic projects, costing 8.72 billion yuan.

Another 14 major agricultural projects are currently under negotiation for contract signing and the investment of these projects is expected to exceed 15 billion yuan.

The Sino-Israel project for a modern agricultural technological industrial park has the largest single investment amount, reaching around 8 billion yuan.

Jointly invested in and constructed by Yiyang Yihua Aquatic Co Ltd, AquaMaof Aquaculture Technologies Ltd from Israel, Yanjin Shop Food Co Ltd, and Shandong Aode Group, the project will integrate scientific research, breeding, planting, deep processing, as well as the import and export trade.

The project will be constructed in three phases and has been designed with an annual output of 20,000 metric tons of rainbow trout and 120,000 tons of organic vegetables.

Sheng Jialin, chairmen of Yihua Aquatic Co Ltd, said that the reason why they invested in Nansha was because of its advantages in both preferential policies and geographic location.

"It is estimated that the whole project will bring more than 5,000 job opportunities for local people," added Sheng.
