The plaque unveiling ceremony for the regional headquarters set up by Bona Film Group of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in Guangzhou's Nansha district was held on May 27 during a press conference.

Founded in 1999, Bona Film Group has been a pioneer in China's private film companies. It has produced many acclaimed films like The Captain and Operation Mekong.

"We're glad to see that Bona has set up a regional headquarters in Nansha," said Yu Dong, chairman of Bona and deputy chairman of the China Film Association.

"The Greater Bay Area has clustered a batch of talents in film creation and Bona will team with Zhujiang Film Group and talents in Guangdong's film industry to turn the area into the third pole for China's film industry development," added Yu.

Three large-scale film projects will be brought to Nansha after the establishment of Bona's headquarters in the district, including one telling the stories of medical teams dispatched from Guangdong province to Hubei province to fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic.

Duan Dehai, a member of the standing committee of CPC Nansha district committee, said that Nansha will support the development of Bona's headquarters in the district, aiming to cluster more film industry companies.

At present, Nansha has been working on a supporting policy to boost the development of the film industry to turn the area into a hub for the film industry in the Greater Bay Area.

Nansha will encourage local film companies to release films with great influence in the short term, while exploring ways to attract business models with high technical content, promising economic benefits, and great influence in the film industry chain in the long term, such as post production, copyright trading, and film festivals.

The policy will offer subsidies, such as setting up headquarters companies, attracting talents, and renting offices.
