The side part of the Mingzhuwan Bridge in Nansha district has been connected on May 6, laying a solid foundation for the further construction of the bridge.

Mingzhuwan Bridge, which is one of the major construction projects in Guangdong province, starts from Wanhuan West Road in Wanqinsha town and ends on Nansha Street. The construction of the bridge has an overall investment of 4.72 billion yuan ($665.15 million).

The whole bridge stretches 9.1 kilometers, while the main part of the bridge is 2.64 km in length. The main span of the bridge has reached 436 meters, breaking a new world record.

It has been designed with a double layer structure as its upper layer is a two-way eight-lane road, while the upper layer has reserved two lanes at both sides.

It is expected that the main bridge will be connected by the end of this year and the whole bridge will be joined before July 1, 2021.

A person in charge from the local construction center said that the bridge will be an important channel crossing the Pearl River and will relieve the current nearby traffic pressure.
