Nansha, ITC join hands to boost trade facilitation

Guangzhou’s Nansha district signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Trade Center (ITC) in Shanghai in advance of the China International Import Expo.

The initiative aims to promote cross-border trade facilitation innovation and to drive small and medium-sized enterprises’ (SMEs) participation in international trade.

“The Nansha Free Trade Zone is making good use of its advantages to foster an opening-up portal with a leading business environment. The cooperation with the ITC will contribute greatly to facilitating Nansha firms’ exploration of international markets due to the partner’s rich resources and experience,” said the district’s mayor Dong Ke.

Arancha Gonzalez, executive director of the ITC, stated that the organization intends to back up SMEs as they step onto a global stage.

Nansha district plays a vital leading role of aiding other developing counties sustaining the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI). Therefore, the two sides pledged to jointly promote international trade, and proactively accelerate the district’s development.  

The district plans to sharpen its communication with the ITC to enhance core competitiveness and accelerate regional trade development as a next step.

In the meantime, the two sides will conduct training on digital economy and trade facilitation for BRI economic entities, offering brighter prospects of
