Agricultural eco-tourism festival opens in Nansha

Updated: 2019-11-11

Guangzhou’s Nansha district is holding an agricultural eco-tourism festival from Nov 8 to 10, where fresh vegetables and fruits, featured cuisines, miniscapes, calligraphy and photography works are awaiting visitors.

The festival features a famous local quality farm goods trade fair; fresh-cut guava, bananas, kudzu roots as well as hand-made agricultural products like dried fish, dried vegetables and salted eggs, all “must-have” souvenirs. Seed companies are also exhibiting and selling their products on the spot.

Sixteen snack stalls are ready to prepare varied treats for foodies. Fermented bean curd, egg puffs, bamboo chicken, beef offal, hot and spicy rice noodles, Chinese chestnuts, coconut juice, fruit ice cream... It’s a good chance to try them all at once.

Dozens of elegant and distinct bonsais are laid out along a 50-meter corridor. Pine, Tashiro Indian hawthorn, Acacia confuse, Ixora chinensis...some of the plant artworks are designed based on their original shapes, a style favored by the literati in ancient times. Jungle miniscapes also have their followers with modern tastes.

Nearly a hundred works of photography, calligraphy and painting presenting the local urban spirit of openness, excellence and modesty are on display at a 50-m gallery.

A 1.5-kilometer green corridor and a picking orchard are other attractions you won’t want to miss.
