Nansha to build five new public hospitals

The number of medical and health institutions in Nansha had reached 223 by the end of 2018.

According to statistics, there were 4.5 health workers, 1.69 medical practitioners (assistants), 1.96 registered nurses, and 1.16 public health workers per 10,000 permanent residents.

Nansha has planned over 5.5 billion yuan ($800 million) toexpandand build medicalfacilities for the 13thFive Year Plan period(2016-20), and its basic medical and health service capacity is constantly improving.

According to the Report on Improving the Ability of Primary Health Care Services in Nansha district, it plans to build three demonstration community health service centers in three years.

Nansha subdistrict will build a model comprehensive community health service center with national standards.

Huangge town will build a comprehensive base training center on an internationalized general medical treatment model.

The pilot community hospital in Dagang town explores the demonstration mode of hierarchical diagnosis and combination of medical treatment and endowment.

Nansha will also introduce third grade class A hospitals for cooperation and complementation.They will complement the establishment of three internationally advanced and domestic first-class national regional medical centers of Chinese and Western medicine, and the construction of a number of multi-disciplinary international advanced and domestic first-class specialized medical centers.

By 2025, the district will renovate (expand or relocate) 11 public hospitals and build five new public hospitals. After the completion of the project, the total number of beds in district-level hospitals will reach 3,988.

In addition to the introduction of high-level hospitals, the number of hospital beds at all levels will increase from 1,827 to 8,648; the number of beds will jump to 7.7, and the medical practitioners (assistants) will reach 3.3, 5 registered nurses per 1,000 permanent residents.
