l Strategic positioning and development direction

By seizing the rare opportunity created by the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Nansha will continue to implement the innovation-driven development strategy, deepen reform and opening-up in Nansha FTZ, promote closer and high-level cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao. In addition, Nansha will speed up its efforts in becoming a regional transportation hub and an information port, enhance its power of influence as an international shipping hub and create an innovation-oriented industrial system. Moreover, efforts will be made to build a rule-of-law business environment that is aligned with the best international practices, transform Nansha into the urban sub-center of Guangzhou, as well as the leading area and the exemplary zone for implementing the new development concepts.

II Economic data

Nansha's GDP reached 139.189 billion yuan in 2017, an increase of 10.5 percent year-on-year, GDP growth rate ranks first among all 11 districts in Guangzhou for 4 consecutive years (16 quarters). In 2017, the tax revenue from Nansha reached 47.196 billion yuan, an increase of 15.2 percent year-on-year. By 2020, the GDP is projected to see a two-time increase compared to that in 2015, which is to exceed 300 billion yuan for the first time, and by 2025, its GDP is projected to reach 600 billion yuan, enabling Nansha to become a regional economic engine.

III Industrial situation

In 2017, the proportion of economic aggregate contributed by three major industries are:

Primary industry, 3.77 percent; secondary industry, 61.49 percent and tertiary industry, 34.74 percent.

Nansha will take active measures to build an innovation-oriented industrial system and promote the coordinated development of advanced manufacturing and the modern service industry, with focus on headquarters economy, digital economy and green economy. Efforts will be made to facilitate the settlement of resource elements from around the world and promote the development of five pillar industries, namely shipping and logistics, advanced manufacturing, finance and commerce, scientific & technological innovation and tourism & health care industry; in addition, Nansha will spend greater efforts to cultivate the growth of IAB, NEW and other emerging industries.
