A lingzhi-themed restaurant opened at Nansha International Cruise Homeport on Aug 22, bringing under-forest lingzhi from Liannan Yao Autonomous County to dining tables across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Since 2021, the branch has helped Woshui town expand lingzhi cultivation from 0.33 hectares to 33.33 hectares, with technical support from the South China Botanical Garden and a 95 percent survival rate. Output value is projected to reach 5 million yuan ($694,445) in 2026, up from 40,000 yuan.

Fresh lingzhi is now processed into slices, soup packs, tea bags and fermented beverages. The restaurant sells branded products and is expected to add over 3 million yuan in annual sales.

Liao Hui, first secretary of Woshui village, said the model "bridges farmland and forests and urban dining tables in one direct link, creating a complete production-sales chain".

Huang Congli, secretary of the leading Party members group of the Guangzhou Branch, said the next step is to turn ecological advantages into economic gains for more Yao residents. A full industry chain now covers standardized cultivation, deep processing and brand marketing. "One lingzhi plant greens the mountains, enriches the Yao villages and benefits the bay area," he said, adding that the project demonstrates win-win cooperation between Nansha and Liannan under the provincial "Hundred, Thousand, Ten Thousand Project."
