A group of representatives from Malaysia's influencer industry and 15 content creators explored Dongchongli, a Lingnan-style water town in Guangzhou's Nansha district, on Aug 11 during the second "Taste of Two Cities" Guangzhou tour organized by the Guangzhou We-Media Association. The group documented local architecture and intangible cultural heritage for netizens in Malaysia.

Walking through Dongchongli, the creators were drawn to its distinctive "wok-ear" houses, a type of architecture with grey-brick walls and carved windows. "These houses are really distinct. Although different from Malaysian architecture, they carry a strong sense of local identity," said "JT生活美食旅游博客"(JTLifeBlogger in douyin), a Malaysian food and travel blogger.

A boat trip along the canal was another highlight. "The ancient houses along the water create an unforgettable scene. I usually only see such boat rides only in costume dramas, so experiencing it personally was amazing," said "David队长日记" (Captaindavidiary in douyin), a Malaysian blogger.

The group also learned about Nansha's water-town wedding customs, bamboo hats and the Xiangyunsha (Gambiered Canton Gauze) silk craft. At the Xiangyunsha Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, they touched the smooth fabric and learned how it was made. Several bloggers said they would recommend Nansha's cuisine and cultural sites to Malaysian travelers.

"I hope more Malaysian visitors will come and experience Nansha's unique water town charm for themselves," said Rowel Ting, a Malaysian blogger.
