Nansha, Hong Kong team up to shape a shared GBA yacht lifestyle circle

Hosted by the Nansha Guangdong-Hong Kong Cooperation Advisory Committee, the 18th Guangdong-Hong Kong Monthly Dialogue was held in Hong Kong on Aug 11. Around 100 officials, industry representatives and experts gathered to explore Guangzhou-Hong Kong synergy to build a shared yacht lifestyle circle.

Leung Chun-ying, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and adviser to the committee, said lower-cost yachts built on the mainland, more affordable berthing options in Nansha, reduced crew wages and relaxed cross-boundary policies will popularize yachting and boost the entire industrial chain, from manufacturing to tourism. He called on the industry to take advantage of these policies to strengthen Guangdong-Hong Kong cooperation.

Nansha has launched a yacht industry alliance, a one-stop service center, tailored legislation and the "Nansha Yacht 12" policy package. With a coastline stretching 195 km and over 70 percent of Guangzhou's berths, it is home to more than 10 manufacturers. Yachts from Hong Kong clear customs in under 30 minutes, benefit from a deposit-free dual-registration system and can remain for up to 180 days each year.

Moving forward, Nansha plans to adopt the seminar's suggestions, accelerate industry measures and strengthen cooperation with Hong Kong's yacht sector. The city is preparing the "100 Yacht Owners Gather in Nansha" event, aiming to leverage policy benefits, energize the blue economy and write a new chapter in the synergy between the Guangzhou and Hong Kong yacht industries.
