Nansha transforms from cargo transit point into cross-border trade ecosystem

Guangzhou's Nansha district will host the Global Cross-border Trade Industry Cluster Ecosystem Conference on July 30, marking a milestone in its transformation from a traditional cargo transit hub into a fully fledged cross-border trade ecosystem.

The event is expected to gather more than 1,000 entrepreneurs, investors and industry experts, with executives from Walmart, Google, Guangzhou Port, Midea and HSBC sharing their insights on global trade trends.

This shift is driven by a powerful smart manufacturing cluster. Midea's lighthouse factory and TCL's AI-native plant produce home appliances for markets worldwide. The Shazai Island automobile terminal, now China's second-largest ro-ro vehicle export port, has already handled over two million vehicles this year. Shipbuilder GSI holds orders worth $14.76 billion, and heat-pump specialist PHNIX is now exporting to more than 100 countries.

An integrated service network underpins this growth. Nansha port operates over 180 international routes, and the "one port pass" model has cut average container dwell time from seven days to less than 48 hours. The facilitation of cross-border financing, a dedicated data compliance window and a one-stop outbound investment service base further remove operational barriers, cementing Nansha's role as a pivotal hub linking domestic and international circulation.
