Nansha duty-free store marks milestone for Greater Bay Area cruise industry

The bidding results for the duty-free store project at Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Home Port were officially announced on July 15, with China Duty Free Group (CDFG) securing the contract. This milestone represents a major transition from planning to implementation for the port's duty-free commercial facilities.

Located along the main passenger route within the cruise terminal, the store will offer perfumes, cosmetics, luxury watches, imported alcohol, tobacco, and food products under strict customs supervision. The project is designed to match cruise travelers' consumption patterns and deliver a one-stop, high-end shopping experience.

CDFG, China's leading duty-free operator with over 200 stores worldwide and partnerships with more than 1,500 international brands, brings extensive expertise from ports in Tianjin and Qingdao. The collaboration will establish a benchmark for duty-free cruise-related retail in the Greater Bay Area.

The facility will support the Nov 22 maiden voyage of the domestically built cruise ship Adora Flora City, transforming the port from a pure transit hub into an integrated "cruise transport plus port consumption" model. This shift will convert passenger traffic into tangible economic growth, creating a sustainable cycle of cruise-led development, consumer retention, and urban upgrading for Nansha and the broader Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
