China's second homegrown cruise ship completes sea trials in single pass

China's second domestically built large cruise ship, the Adora Flora City, successfully completed all sea trial tests and docked at CSSC Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding in Shanghai on May 27, marking the first time a large cruise ship built in China has passed sea trials in a single attempt.

The 12-day trial covered 149 test items with a 100 percent completion rate, including propulsion systems, side thrusters, fin stabilizers, power station systems, navigation and communication equipment, and automation controls. Core indicators such as vibration, noise levels, speed and the Energy Efficiency Design Index were also verified.

The vessel is now scheduled for delivery on Nov 6, nearly two months ahead of the original plan, with its maiden voyage set to depart from Guangzhou's Nansha International Cruise Home Port on Nov 22. Ticket sales for the inaugural season opened on May 20.

Spanning 341 meters with a gross tonnage of 141,900, the Adora Flora City features 2,130 luxury cabins accommodating up to 5,232 guests. The ship boasts 28 restaurants and bars, a 1,000-seat theater, a shopping center, an art gallery, a gym, a spa and a children's club. As the sister ship of China's first homegrown cruise liner Adora Magic City, it features upgraded smart technology throughout cabins and public areas, an expanded atrium doubled in size, and floral-themed Art Nouveau interiors that weave Chinese cultural elements into dining, entertainment and service experiences.
