The conference has set up a new platform for technological exchanges and dialogues between the East and the West and a channel for communication on new modes of innovation and cooperation with the world, so as to share new opportunities for the development of the Greater Bay Area and realize win-win results, according to district's leader Cai Chaolin.
In his address, Cai promoted the friendly business and investment environment at the event with three stories.
He quoted the remark of a senior executive of Pony.ai, a start-up company that specializes in self-driving technologies that the major reason for the company to reach the peak of self-driving technology is the good environment for the AI industry created by Guangzhou and Nansha district.
He took a company that was launched in Nansha with investment from Hong Kong as a second example, explaining that the procedures of registration and issuance of business licenses were not done in Nansha but in a branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China in Hong Kong, which is quite convenient for Hong Kong investors.
Lastly, he told a story about Eames Mark, an Australian who has been identified as a foreign high-end talent by the Guangdong Pilot Free Trade Zone and has received a permanent residence permit for foreigners together with his wife and son.
In the afternoon, seven "fire-side chats" were hosted to discuss hot topics including the Internet, intelligent travel, venture capital, self-driving and new energy vehicles.
