The agenda for the second day of the East Tech West event, which kicked off on Nov 27 in Guangzhou’s Nansha district, was filled with 20 panels and "fire-side chats".

A group of senior executives from companies including JD, Sequoia Capital, Huawei, Breyer Capital, SenseTime, Webank and WM Motor were interviewed by the world’s business and financial news leader CNBC.

Opposite the main venue of the three-day conference , CNBC also set up a temporary studio to broadcast Vice Chairman of APAC JP Morgan Chase&Co Jing Ulrich’s stock market analysis live to its global audience.

More than 300 million people in 162 countries with access to CNBC channels in Europe, Asia and the Americas may notice the venue of the event shown in a scroll bar under the screen: Nansha, Guangzhou.

"CNBC has signed a three-year contract with Nansha district and closer cooperation will be followed up," KC Sullivan, president and managing director at CNBC International, said in an interview during the conference.

Sullivan said he learned that some agreements had been reached and he believes that Nansha will become a global center for scientific and technological innovation.

He hoped the event will serve as a fair and unbiased platform for communication and dialogue between the West and the East and help create more new ideas.

"Benign and healthy competition is also a way to promote development,” he noted.
