On November 25, the Nanshan sub-forum of the International Finance Forum (IFF) 2018 Annual Meeting was held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Guangzhou. Zeng Jinze, deputy party secretary of CPC Nansha district committee and mayor of Nansha district,made a presentation at the forum promoting the Nansha free trade zone (FTZ). Industry experts and scholars including Prof. Kevin Zhen, Mr. Calvin Choi, Ms. Sun Xiaoqin, Mr. Li Zhu and Dr. Chen Dongyue held round-table talks on the theme of "Joining hands to create the future of the Greater Bay Area - the prospect of financial cooperation between Nansha, Hong Kong and Macau".

Nansha holds four high-level forums in two weeks
Cai Zhaolin, member of the standing committee of CPC Guangzhou municipal committee and party secretary of CPC Nansha district committee, mentioned that the IFF 2018 Annual Meeting was the third high-level forum hosted by Nansha within a week. The China Talents 50 People Forum and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Port and Shipping Logistics Development Forum had just ended; the CNBC Global Technology Conference is scheduled for the next week.

The forum will enhance the international community's awareness of Nansha, enable the world to focus on Nansha, make Nansha more widely understood and offer it more cooperation opportunities.
Cai said at the forum that his confidence in Nansha derives from the two core advantages of the district: The first is its geographic advantage. Nansha will forge a 30-minute transportation circle within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area in three to five years, turning its geographic advantage into a powerful driving force for development by facilitating transport.
The second is the policy advantage. Nansha is not only a pilot free trade zone and a zone with proprietary innovation, but also a major cooperation platform in the Greater Bay Area. It is positioned as a comprehensive cooperation demonstration area among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, with wide openness and strong policy advantages. Cai stressed that Nansha will fulfill the mission of the FTZ, continue to improve the "two environments" and create a better living environment and business environment so that talents can work and live comfortably in Nansha.
Understanding Nansha's development from different angles

The first business card is the "Greater Bay Area center". Nansha is located at the heart of the Greater Bay Area showing superb geographic advantages. As the center of the Greater Bay Area, Nansha is a major platform for cooperation. It is positioned as a demonstration zone for all-round cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau and has a very broad development prospect. A "30-minute transportation circle" with Nansha as the center will be in fully formed in the next three to five years.
The second business card is the " opening-up gateway". Nansha is an important opening-up gateway for South China and is striving to create a world-class business environment. Nansha took the lead in changing the general business registration approval system to the confirmation system, and made it possible to obtain a business license within one day of registration. The degree of convenience for starting an enterprise is comparable to that of the most efficient countries and regions in the world.
The third business card is the "hub port". As the sixth largest port in the world, Nansha has formed a relatively complete service system for international trade, shipping trade, shipping finance and maritime business, and is speeding up the building of a world-class hub port area, driving the development of the broad areas of the Pan-Pearl River Delta to join the tide of economic globalization.

An in-depth discussion themed "Joining hands to create the future of the Greater Bay Area - the prospect of financial cooperation between Nansha, Hong Kong and Macau" was held at the round-table forum. Professor Kevin Zhen, master of Choi Kai Yau College, University of Macau, said at the meeting that Nansha's financial and industrial development need to be planned and carried out under the background of new globalization and should have a forward-looking vision. Calvin Choi, chairman andpresident of AMTD Group in Hong Kong, mentioned that "the financial and economic cooperation between Hong Kong and Nansha will continue to expand in the future". The experts provided innovative and valuable ideas and suggestions by explaining financial cooperation between Nansha, Hong Kong and Macau in simple terms.
